NWCFA INTERMEDIATE CHALLENGE CUP ROUND TWO

CPD Aberffraw 3 (G Jones 32, McQuire-Jones 41, Clarke pen 76)
Talysarn Celts 2 (Highes-Thomas 18, Usher 23)

Aberffraw recovered from two goals down to reach the Intermediate Cup quarter-finals where a home tie with Llandudno Amateurs awaits.

Saturday’s clash at Cae Cynlas brought the visit of Talysarn Celts, the FAW Amateur Trophy heroes who have made it to the last 32 of the national knockout.

Celts came into the tie undefeated in nine starts and appeared to be favourites to overcome a Berffro side out of action for a month.

And the form book seemed to be running true when first Glyn Hughes-Thomas made it 1-0 Talysarn after 18 minutes from a Jack Usher assist.

Usher was next to strike with his eighth goal of the season after 23, Gethin Jones the supplier.

However, once Aberffraw found their feet they were a different proposition, Geraint Jones halving the deficit on 32 before setting up Ywain McQuire-Jones to level the tie after 41.

All to play for in the second half, and the islanders completed a tremendous turnaround on 76 minutes when Andy Clarke delivered the winner from the penalty spot.
