Chirk first team triumphs, but seconds suffer first defeat

DIVISION TWO

Willey 1st XI (3) 145-10 Chirk 1st XI (21) 149-3

An unbroken fourth-wicket partnership of 100 between Oliver Gough and Andrew Swarbrick led Chirk to a convincing victory at Barrow Park.

Put into bat, hosts Willey were dismissed for 145, Matt Lawrenson taking 5-40 off 11 for the visitors, Mark Shaw 2-9 from six.

Chirk were 49-3 in response before Gough and Swarbrick got together,

Swarbrick hit an unbeaten 57, including 10 fours, while opener Gough finished 53 not out as the North Wales side reached 149-3 off 29.1 overs.

DIVISION EIGHT

Chirk 2nd XI (3) 105-10 Quayside 1st XI (24) 110-5

A surprising first defeat of the season in their 16th match for leaders Chirk seconds.

The hosts won the toss, chose to bat, and could only manage a paltry 105 all out from 22.1 overs, Alfie Shaw top-scoring with 31, while extras made up 22, Ian Plant 3-27 and Matthew Harris 3-31 for the visitors.

Quayside made it to 110-5 in 31.1, Connor Bailey 2-16 and Shaw 2-28 for the hosts.
