NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – AUGUST 1 – DIVISION ONE

Abergele (3) 98-10 Halkyn (18) 241-7

Despite having 60 penalty points deducted at the start of the season Halkyn are up to fourth in Division One after a 14th win in 16 league outings.

Saturday’s trip to Abergele saw the Flintshire side amass 241-7 off 45 overs, George Jones 49, Hammad Bajwa 43, skipper Ben Roberts 37 and Nathan Roett 35.

For Gele, Gareth J Edwards picked up 3-30 and Ajith Balakrishnan 2-17.

In reply, the hosts were dismissed for 98, Sebin Sebastion 30, Bajwa 2-5, Alex North 2-22 and Ryan Ferguson 2-24 for Halkyn, winners by 143 runs.

Bangor 2nd XI (7) 185-5 Bethesda 1st XI (18) 237-8

Skipper Ben Parker led the way with 65 in Bethesda’s match-winning total of 237-8 at Ty Newydd.

Jamie Herbert added 44 not out and Nicholas Parry 41 for the visitors, who were put into bat, Peter Jones snapping up 4-29 and Gareth Edwards 2-39 for the hosts.

Bangor seconds were then limited to 185-5, opener Hari Griffith Williams an impressive 69 and Mehul Ahir 35, Parker 2-31 and Andrew Day 2-39 for the Ogwen side.

Buckley 1st XI (18) 214-7 Gresford 1st XI (7) 213-10

Half-centuries from Jack Whitley and Carl Jutson helped guide Buckley to victory at Lane End.

Gresford won the toss and chose to bat, setting a decent 213 all out off 42.4 overs, opener and skipper Joshua Knowles 45, Abbey Mayers taking 3-46, Johnny Hewitt 3-56 and Whitley 2-30 for the home side.

In response, Bucks wobbled to 27-3, but a fourth-wicket stand of 104 between Whitley (54) and Jutson (50) turned the tide.

Paul Rambaldi then hit 47 in a partnership of 80 with Whitley and the hosts ended up 214-7 off 34.1 overs, Chris Ellwood 2-21, Gareth Bell 2-30 and Simon Perry 2-39 for the travellers.

Llandudno 1st XI (18) 234-7 Connah’s Quay 1st XI (3) 111-10

Number seven bat Kevin James hit a crucial 52 in Llandudno’s impressive score at The Oval.

Invited to bat, Tudno were creaking at 111-6 before James hit a half-ton off 51 balls including eight fours and a six, sharing an 84-run stand for the seventh wicket with Oliver Hughes.

Sean McFarlane added 43 for the home side in a challenging 234-7 off 45, Mali Auty 3-39 and Lee Davies 2-29 for the visitors.

Quay were then sent packing for just 111, Lalmon TV 3-20, McFarlane 2-4, Jamie Grimshaw 2-27 and Lucas Hughes 2-30.

Northop 2nd XI (18) 203-6 Conwy 1st XI (6) 175-10

Paul Lindfield (58), David Foulkes (57), Darren Williams (36) and Leo Grieg (30) all made vital contributions to Northop’s victory tally of 203-6.

Iwan Roberts scooped 3-38 and Patrick Jelley 2-26 for Conwy, who were bowled out for 175 in reply, skipper Jonathon Davies 50, Carwyn Thomas 31, Elliot Berg 3-24, Liam Moores 2-33, Evan Collett 2-40 and Williams 2-42 for the home side.

Pontblyddyn 1st XI (18) 246-7 Mochdre 2nd XI (3) 86-10

Ben Mason (60), skipper James Griffiths (44) and Vishwa Manawaduge (30) led the way as a Pontblyddyn scorecard comprising exclusively double-figure scores totted up to 246-7 off 45 overs.

Chris Barry (2-42) and Azeem Shamsi (2-45) produced the best figures for Mochdre seconds, who were rolled over for just 86, Barry 30, Manawaduge 5-13 off six, Osian Rhys Jones 3-8.
