Double delight for Northop Hall and Prestatyn but Colwyn Bay suffer two losses in Liverpool Competition

LIVERPOOL AND DISTRICT CRICKET COMPETITION REPORTS – JULY 18

1ST XI FIRST DIVISION

Ainsdale (5) 92-10 Northop Hall (23) 182-10

Paul Jenkins added another five-for to his collection

Northop Hall produced a ruthless bowling performance in clinching an emphatic win at bottom side Ainsdale.

Put into bat, Hall nosedived to 68-6 before James Hurlin (52) and skipper Ben Slater (42) put on 63 for the seventh wicket.

The last two wickets added another 51 runs with Slater last to depart, Hall’s final total ending on 182 all out off 49 overs.

Hall mixed spin and pace in their opening gambit – and it worked a treat.

Slow left-armer Paul Jenkins took 5-34 off 19 overs, while right-arm quick Carwyn Johnson scooped 4-50 off 16. Hurlin claimed a late victim as Ainsdale plummeted to 92 all out.

Hightown St Mary’s (25) 186-7 Colwyn Bay (6) 185-10

Bay’s long winning run came to a disappointing end at Hightown.

The visitors won the toss and batted, posting 185 all out off 45.2 overs.

Matthew Thompson hit 56, while Mathew White grabbed 6-56 for the home side.

Hightown reached the winning post at 186-7 off 47.3, Shahab Khan 50 and Patrick Connolly 48, Shashika Dulshan Bay’s top performer with the ball, pocketing 5-73 off 17.3.

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

Cheshire Lines (5) 152-10 Prestatyn (20) 153-7

A three-wicket triumph for Prestatyn kept them among the leading pack in the Second Division.

After putting the hosts in, the North Wales side dismissed the opposition for 152, Kieran New taking 4-70 off 22 overs, skipper Adam Tidswell 3-24 deom 11 and Benjamin Hughes 3-26 from 12.5.

Prestatyn got home on 153-7, Faiz Shah best with 40, Ryan Westwell 25 and Gareth Leonard 21.

2ND Xi PREMIER DIVISION

Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (7) 200-5 dec Leigh 2nd XI (20) 202-4

Skipper Tom Roberts (53), Jaiveer Tomar (50 not out) and Zane Roy (43) helped the Bay set a decent total of 200-5 declared off 45 overs, but Leigh had the run power to reach a winning 202-4 off 36.4, Shaun Davies 2-30 for the hosts.

2ND XI SECOND DIVISION

Northop Hall 2nd XI (20) 126-3 Norley Hall 2nd XI (3) 122-10

Harley Pritchard scooped 4-29 and Oliver Jenkins 3-13 as leaders Northop Hall seconds dismissed visitors Norley Hall for just 122 and the North Wales side then eased to 126-3 off 26, Michael Williamson a commanding 71 not out.
