Overton lifted their first trophy in 19 years in some style as they put Druids to the sword in Saturday’s NEWFA Two Counties Cup Final at Brymbo.
The club’s last silverware was the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) Division One League Cup in 2006-07, a season where they also finished league runners-up.
Saturday’s final saw Overton make a fine start, Alex Williams giving them a 14th minute lead from a Harrison Plumb assist.
Plumb was again the supplier in the 22nd minute, this time Tom Huxley applying the finish with his 21st goal of the season.
Before half time, Overton had one hand firmly on the trophy when the experienced Josh Betteley made it 3-0, Rowan Birch with this assist.
There was no further score until the 86th minute, when Harry Massey netted his 51st and final goal of the season to seal the win and the trophy.
Man of the match was Plumb, fantastic at the back throughout the 90 minutes and also getting himself two assists.
