WBS League Cup semis: An all-Flintshire final was not in the Stars

Welsh Blood Service League Cup Semi-Final reports
Airbus UK Broughton 5-0 Afan Lido
WBS League Cup holders Airbus reached this year’s final with an emphatic 5-0 home win over Afan Lido.
While Lido defended well in the early stages, Airbus scored twice in the final seven minutes of the first half to take control of the tie.
Good work from Kaiden Cooke set up James Davies to open the scoring, before George Peers turned in Nathan Williams’ pass to double the advantage.

Peers turned provider for Airbus’ third goal early in the second half, as he played in Danny Warren who scored at the second time of asking after seeing his initial shot saved by Exauce Dimonekene.
The Wingmakers had another 10 minutes later, as Lido defender Jackson Hall turned Cooke’s cross into his own net.
Sam Rickett sealed victory in stoppage time, finding the net via the post.
Buckley Town 1-1 Treowen Stars (1-4 on penalties)
Heartbreak for Buckley as a penalty shoot-out defeat ended their dreams of taking part in an all-Flintshire final.
After a goalless first half, Buckley found the breakthrough eight minutes into the second half when Aled Bellis squared the ball for Lewis Hodson to finish.
That looked set to send the Bucks through to the Final, until South Wales outfit Treowen dramatically equalised in the 89th minute when substitute Lewis Green found the net.
The Stars were faultless in the shootout, as Callum Hodges, Carter Campbell and Harvey Selway netted their first three spot-kicks.
In contrast, Buckley missed two of their first three as Connor Littler and Aled Bellis failed to find the target either side of Harvey Ellis scoring.
It meant that Treowen could win the tie with their fourth attempt, which Chris Hartland stepped up to score and book his side’s spot in the Final.
