Adran North: Felinheli dish out a pummeling in Powys

GENERO ADRAN NORTH – MARCH 29, 2026
Llanfair United 1 (E Williams 27)
CPDM Y Felinheli 4 (Huws 38, 58, Evans 68, Allsup 90+2)
One of the best wins of the season for a Felinheli side which clinched fourth place after a thumping away victory against the Adran North runners-up.
Both Llanfair and Felin knew it wasn’t only going to be a battle on the pitch, but a tussle with the weather conditions.
Felin were more than aware a huge performance was needed against an in-form Powys opponent to secure fourth position.
Llanfair played with the gusts of wind in the first half, so Felin were put under pressure from the off. The hosts began quickly, playing the ball over the visitors’ defence to exert pressure.
However, Felin dealt very well with this tactic and ensured nothing came of the many corner kicks the home team received in the first 15-20 minutes.
With no official keeper, Anna Jones took one for the team once more and played in goal. Again, from the off, as she had done on her gloves-wearing debut, Jones read the game very well and made some fantastic saves.

Efa Holdsworth, the young 17 year old slotting into the defence to replace the ever present Sara Baines, played excellently and stopped many Llanfair attacks during this first period.
After a super save from a powerful free kick, on the 27th minute, Anna Jones was unable to stop a powerful shot from Emma Williams, which curled with the wind to the bottom corner.
Felin certainly didn’t give up and after the 30-mark, started to push on and played some great counter attacking football. The combination of Catrin Evans, Alaw Huws, Llywela Edwards was certainly a threat to Llanfair and Shannon Jones’ speed on the left wing as she joined the attack was unmatched.
Felin equalised with a great Edwards assist to Huws, who worked her way nicely around the keeper to slot the ball home.
Half time score 1-1
With the hard work against the wind done jn the first half, Felin knew they had nothing to lose in the second. With every minute, Felin were looking more and more confident and aiming to hurt Llanfair’s high back line.
Fantastic work from Shannon Jones on the left wing allowed Felin to carry the ball high up the pitch. A very unselfish ball across from Jones allowed Huws to hit the back of the net for her second goal.
After tireless work from Elsi Glyn, Ellie Jones came on to replace her in the right wing back position and straight away demonstrated her strength and quality.
With Felin pushing and pushing, a wonderful Catrin Evans corner kick goal was just what they needed to settle the match.

Although Llanfair kept pressing for their second, Felin were confident and sticking to their defensive shape to stop any meaningful attacks.
In added time, some excellent defensive work from Jenna Allsup allowed her to carry the ball up the right wing. Battling hard with the Llanfair defence. Allsup cut in on her left foot and lobbed the keeper for Felin’s fourth.
Winning coach Llio Emyr said: “Super proud of the whole team today. From the keeper to the subs that came on to strengthen and secure the win. The girls knew we needed a performance and that’s what we had. When we perform, the results come. Really pleased to secure 4th position in the league after a pretty tough season with many injuries and players unavailable.
“Today was a reward for the players who have stuck at it throughout the season and battled hard against good teams for points. A long drive home made it much more pleasant after that performance – diolch genod!”
