North East Wales League: FC Queen’s Park move 7 clear, Greenfield edge thriller, trebles for Douglas and Massey

FC Queen’s Park 5 (Sam Molyneux 3, Nicky Williams 7, 39, Corey Smart 58, 63)
Saltney Town 1 (James Dunseath 57)
Five-star Queen’s Park established a seven-point lead at the Division 1 summit after a 19th straight win in league and cup put Saltney to the sword.
With second-place Broughton United losing 4-2 at Rhostyllen, Thomas Douglas with a hat-trick, the Park strengthened their title aspirations by completing a 13th league victory on the bounce.

The hosts got off to a flyer with two goals in the opening seven minutes, Sam Molyneux taking advantage of a Corey Smart assist before Nicky Williams made it two.
Nicky Williams found the net again in the 39th minute for his 22nd goal of the campaign, Jordan Williams the chance supplier.
Just before the hour James Dunseath gave the Bordermen some hope by opening their account, but a minute later Smart made it 4-1, Ethan Simpson setting him up.
And Smart completed a double with his 15th goal this term on 63 minutes, Ryan Kershaw the provider.
Greenfield 4 (Ryan Davies 41, Tom Burrows 61, Charlie Hughes 63, Nikola Georgiev 72) Penyffordd Lions 3 (Alister Randles 33, Coby Peters 51, Marcus Davies 70)

A seven-goal thriller ended up in Greenfield’s favour, the home side boosting their record to nine games without a loss.
In a topsy-turvy affair, Alister Randles put Penyffordd ahead on 33 minutes, but Ryan Davies levelled close to the break.
Coby Peters nudged Lions back in front on 51, Greenfield hit back with two goals in as many minutes from Tom Burrows and Charlie Hughes before Marcus Davies made it three-apiece.
However, Nikola Georgiev restored the home advantage on 72 – and that was the end of the scoring.
NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE ROUND-UP WITH SHAUN BEST

FC Queen’s Park have taken full control at the top of Division One. The Wrexham outfit have opened up a seven point lead after Broughton United’s loss at Rhostyllen. At the other end of the table, relegation looks like being a reality for Ruabon Rovers and Chirk AAA.
Hat-trick Harry Massey struck again with three net-finders in Overton Recreational’s 6-2 Division 2 victory over Holywell United to make it 47 goals in 2025-26. The wise money looks to be on Sychdyn United to win the Division Two title.
Four more points from their final three league games will secure second place in Division Three for CPD Gronant.
