NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE – REPORTS MARCH 21

PREMIER DIVISION

CPD Nefyn United 1 CPD Llanberis 1

Nefyn United were forced to settle for a point as a stubborn Llanberis side dug in to frustrate the pre-match league leaders.

Despite dominating the chances and rattling the woodwork twice, the Penwaig couldn’t find the decisive second goal in a contest defined by near-misses and defensive grit.

The afternoon started with the clinical precision Nefyn fans have come to expect. In a move sparked by Rhys Williams, Steffan Toplis turned provider once again to find Tomi Evans. The finish was academic for Evans, marking his 25th goal of a sensational campaign and moving Toplis to 10 assists since his January arrival.

Nefyn looked poised to pull away, but both Arwel Huws and Rhys Williams saw spectacular long-range efforts thunder off the woodwork. On another day, Nefyn walk into the break 3-0 up; today, those centimeters proved the difference.

Llanberis, despite creating very little in open play, remained dogged in the fight. Their persistence paid off in the 58th minute when Huw Owen unleashed a speculative effort from the sideline that found the back of the net.

It was a rare lapse in a game where Nefyn’s defensive unit, driven by captain Llyr Pennant and the energetic Jake Jones, largely neutralized the visitors’ threat.

Nefyn pushed until the final whistle, with Rhys Williams remaining a constant thorn in the Llanberis side, but the breakthrough wouldn’t come. It’s a point gained, lesson learned and Nefyn move forward in a long season, but this will be viewed as two points dropped.

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 1 Talysarn Celts 3

Jake Thomas, Jack Usher and Gethin Jones supplied the goals which banked three points for Celts and sent Blaenau crashing to their first home league defeat since October.
Owain Jones-Owen grabbed the Quarrymen’s sole reply.

Bontnewydd 0 Nantlle Vale 4

Two goals in each half won this encounter for Vale, Llion Griffiths and Hugh Jones on target in the first period before Ashley Owen and sub Callum McDonnell struck in the second.

CPD Llannerchymedd 0 Menai Bridge Tigers 5

Back to top spot for the Tigers, John Littlemore (2), Callum Graves, Jamie McDaid (penalty) and Gerwyn Roberts splitting the away goals.

Llanrug United 2 CPD Boded 3

Asa Thomas was on the mark twice for a Boded outfit which celebrated a third league victory on the bounce.
Dylan Griffith opened the away account on eight minutes before Thomas found the net after 36 and 61, Tom Verburg and Josh Evans keeping Llanrug in touch.

CPD Mynydd Llandegai 1 Gwalchmai 5

Three consecutive wins for Gwalchmai, with this latest one their most emphatic of the season.
Liam Willighan (2), a Steven Tindall own goal, plus further strikes from Iwan Sawicz and sub Darren Lewthwaite guided Gwalch to success, Leon Buckland with Llandegai’s solitary reply.

CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 1 CPD Llanystumdwy 1

Meilir Edwards gave Penrhyn a 43rd minute lead, but an Owen Pritchard leveller after 67 earned Llanystumdwy a point.
Home team manager Steffan Jones was sent off on 32 minutes for a second yellow card.

DIVISION ONE

Holyhead Town 3 CPD Pentraeth 0

Sion Davies scored twice on Saturday

In-form Sion Davies made it 10 goals in seven games for a Holyhead Town side which stretched their unbeaten run to five matches at Millbank on Saturday.
The game got off to a slow start but sparked to life when Declan Jones’ through ball found Davies who slotted home after 8 minutes.
Play again became scrappy with Town creating the better chances, a cracking double save by Pentraeth keeper Louis Sturrs from a Jones long range effort and a Davies follow up denying the hosts a second goal.
Town did have the ball in the net but net-finder Callum Roberts was just offside. Sturrs again pulled off an outstanding save from a long range Charlie Diamond attempt.
The Harbourmen got the second half off to a flyer when sub Festus Osagie turned home at the back post from an Aneurin Saunderson cross.
Holyhead then commanded control of the game although Pentraeth looked a threat on the counter at 2-0. Davies sealed the result in the 73rd minute when he latched on to a Myles Jones through ball to make it three.

CPD Caernarfon Borough 1 Bethesda Rovers 2

Scott Hughes scored twice in the opening 20 minutes to clinch the spoils for Rovers.
Jamie Brownley responded for Boro on 67, but it was not enough to save the hosts from defeat. Boro’s Joshua Swindell was red-carded on the hour.

CPD Cefni 1 CPD Gaerwen 4
