JD CYMRU NORTH: Mountain rise five places, Rhyl 1879 hit for six at Newtown

JD CYMRU NORTH FOOTBALL – MARCH 24

Flint Mountain 1 Guilsfield 0
Captain Calum Woods delivered the winning goal which lifted Flint Mountain five places up the Cymru North table on Tuesday night.
Lying next-to-bottom before kick-off, the three points vaulted the Mountain into 10th spot, leapfrogging a number of teams on very similar totals.
It was the perfect tonic for a club whose manager Liam Dickinson stepped down at the weekend for medical reasons.
No doubt the players and staff will have dedicated this result to Liam, who did a fine job in his six months in charge.
The decisive goal came on 76 minutes, condemning Guilsfield to a seventh league match without a win.
Newtown 6 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1
Newtown seems to save their very best form for meetings with Rhyl this season.
Last September, the Robins were particularly impressive in winning 5-2 at the Hops and Barley Community Stadium.
And in Tuesday night’s return, the Latham Park side whipped the Lilywhites 6-1.
It was quite an unexpected result between teams just one place apart in the top five, with Newtown’s results having been up and down in recent times
It was all about the Robins on Tuesday, though, with Jaime Hyne leading the way with a four-goal salvo, Tomas Jones and Louis Jacobs also on the mark.
Rhyl did not manage to find the net until Morgan Murray bagged a 91st minute consolation.
