League leaders Kinmel Bay secure top-two place – Nettleton hits four, Ang grabs hat-trick

Kinmel Bay are guaranteed a top-two place in the inaugural North Wales Coast Women’s League following Sunday’s emphatic win away to Henllan.

Bay delivered a clinical and high-tempo performance, though the scoreline only tells part of a contest that saw both sides show determination and resilience throughout.

Kinmel Bay started brightly, immediately asserting control with intense pressure. Their early dominance paid off in the 4th minute when Jaide Ang lifted a perfectly weighted ball over the Henllan defence into the path of Jess Nettleton, who calmly slotted into the bottom left corner to open the scoring.

Just six minutes later, Bay doubled their lead through a moment of quality. Captain Seren Williams delivered an excellent cross into the box, which Jaide Ang met with an impressive overhead finish to make it 2–0. The visitors continued their strong spell, and two minutes later Nettleton turned provider, slipping a short pass into Ang, who confidently netted her second.

Despite the early setback, Henllan responded positively. In the 19th minute, Amy Woodbridge produced a superb effort from just beyond the halfway line, lobbing stand-in goalkeeper Millie Sergent to pull one back and reward the home side’s growing pressure.

Bay reacted well to the goal and regained control. Nine minutes later, Ang again played a key role, finding Lucy Perry, who finished neatly into the bottom right corner.

The final goal of the first half came from a well-worked set piece, as Tash Standing’s precise corner found the head of Seren Williams, who guided it home for a 5-1 interval lead.

The second half began with both teams showing intent, creating chances that were well dealt with by both goalkeepers. Henllan continued to battle and look for openings, while Bay remained dangerous going forward.

The deadlock was broken on the hour mark when Perry threaded a fine pass through to Ang, who took a touch before finishing clinically to complete her hat-trick. Ten minutes later, Ang turned assistant again, setting up Georgia Williams to score with a composed strike.

Kinmel continued to capitalise on their momentum. In the 73rd minute, Nettleton reacted quickest to a deflection and drilled the ball home.

Four minutes later, Seren Williams headed forward into the path of Nettleton, who made it a personal treble with a confident finish.

Nettleton wasn’t finished there, adding her fourth goal in the 82nd minute after receiving a precise pass from Standing and driving the ball into the net.

The scoring was rounded off by captain Seren Williams, who secured her brace after meeting a cross from Baileigh Aaron and firing home to complete the 11–1 result.

To their credit, Henllan showed great spirit throughout, continuing to work hard despite the scoreline and never letting their heads drop.

• Millie Sergent was praised for stepping in as a stand-in goalkeeper for Kinmel Bay, while Amy Woodbridge also deserves recognition for going in goal for Henllan after Rhian Edwards was forced off through injury.
