JD CYMRU NORTH: Airbus on verge of promotion, Rhyl 1879 rally from cup defeat with fine win

JD CYMRU NORTH – TUESDAY, MARCH 10

Flint Mountain 0 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1

Back in action just two days after a hard-fought Welsh Cup semi-final loss to Caernarfon Town, Rhyl 1879 did their fans proud again with a fine win at Bastion Gardens.
In Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to the Cofis, Morgan Murray and Dan Atkins were outstanding for the Lilywhites – and it was that pair which combined to deliver the winning goal against Mountain.
Atkins netted his first goal for the club on 31 minutes, Murray providing the assist.
And that was enough to seal three points for Paul Moore’s warriors, who strengthened their grip on fifth place in the table.
Brickfield Rangers 0 Airbus UK Broughton 5

Five-goal Airbus closed the gap on Cymru North leaders to Llandudno to two points having played a game more with a ruthless demolition of Brickfield.
Mark Allen’s side have all but secured a top-three position needed to seal promotion to the Cymru Premier – provided they attain a Tier 1 licence.
Only Newtown in fourth can now match the Wingmakers’ current points tally, but the Broughton side have such a superior goal difference that a place in those first three slots is pretty much guaranteed.
Darren Warren got Airbus off to an absolute flyer with goals on five and six minutes, Mason Blackwell-Jones and Jordan Evans with the assists.
Warren is now on 13 goals for the campaign.
Three more followed for the visitors in the second half, Jake Roberts making it 3-0 on 65, Nathan Williams the supplier, 18-year-old Joshua Stevenson added a fourth with 80 gone and young sub Cameron Meredith registered his first goal for the senior side three minutes past the 90.
