GENERO ADRAN NORTH – SUNDAY MARCH 8

Connah’s Quay Nomads 3 (Slack 20, Evans OG 68, Harley 75)
Llanfair United 2 (Wylde 47, Davies 87)

Nomads moved to within one win of a second successive Genero Adran North title with a hard-fought verdict over potentially nearest challengers Llanfair.

The home side took a 20th minute lead when visiting keeper Ffion Davies spilled a Mel Barlow free kick and Hannah Slack put away the loose ball.

Not such a good moment for Slack after 36 minutes when she was shown a straight red card for a foul near halfway.

The 10-player hosts remained one-up going into half time, but two minutes after the restart Tania Wylde made it one-apiece.

For the second time in the afternoon, a goalscorer then bizarrely managed to get themselves sent off not long after finding the net.

In the 51st minute, Wylde received a red card by referee Lilah Thomas following a high challenge.

Luck was with the hosts after 68 minutes when a Barlow free kick was headed into her own net by Millie Evans which put the Deesiders 2-1 up.

And it was 3-1 after 75 when the Llanfair defence failed to clear a Barlow corner and substitute Elana Harley scored from close range.

Harriet Davies pulled one back for the Powys travellers after 87, but the Quay held on for the points.

Berriew 3 (D Evans 14, 53, G Jones 44)
Llandudno 2 (K Davies 70, Haynes 90+5)

From the sublime to the ridiculous for Llandudno, who held champions Connah’s Quay Nomads 0-0 away two weeks before losing badly at the bottom side on Sunday.

Tudno were 3-0 down before they began to pose any sort of attacking threat. They managed to grab two late replies but ended up losers to the Rhiewsiders, who moved level on points with the Seasiders and climbed off the basement to relegate CPDM Bangor to bottom spot.

Dottie Evans handed the hosts a 14th minute lead, then just before the break veteran markswoman Gemma Jones made it 2-0.

Evans added a third for the dark blues eight minutes into the second half to leave Tudno all at sixes and sevens.

Berriew now seemed content to hold on to what they had and the introduction of subs Jennifer Haynes, Seren Kerfoot-Robson and Gwen Roberts did begin to make the visitors more of a force going forward.

They grabbed themselves a lifeline when Kelsey Davies made it 3-1 with 70 on the clock.

Llandudno pushed for a second, but it did not arrive until five minutes into added time when Haynes netted via a Roberts assist.

The final whistle blew on a forgettable afternoon for the Seasiders, who look set to suffer their worst campaign statistically and position-wise in five seasons at Tier 2 level.
