NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE: Leaders Queen’s Park on 11 straight league wins, Caerwys are Division 3 champions

NORTH EAST WALES FOOTBALL LEAGUE – REPORTS, TABLES, RESULTS FOR FEBRUARY 28, 2026
DIVISION 1

Castell Alun Colts 1 (Ethan Cooke 60)
FC Queen’s Park 2 (Corey Smart 52, Ryan Kershaw 69)

Unstoppable Queen’s Park recorded their 11th league win in a row and 14th victory in succession across all competitions after a narrow success at Castell Alun on Saturday afternoon.
After a goalless first half, the Wrexham visitors took a 52nd minute lead when Ethan Simpson provided the assist for Corey Smart to knock in his 12th goal of the season.
Casty were working hard to put a spanner in the away side’s works and they levelled on the hour through Ethan Cooke, Harri Thomas setting him up.
The Park did not panic and edged back in front in the 69th minute through Ryan Kershaw’s 11th net-finder of the campaign.
Arran Taylor’s side then had to work hard to ensure they maintained that impressive winning run which sees them four points clear at the Premier summit.
Greenfield 1 (Taylor Edwards 86)
Coedpoeth United 1 (Oliver Lewis 90+7)

All the main drama happened late at The Bernie Williams Memorial Ground.
The game was goalless until the 86th minute, when Taylor Edwards put Greenfield in front.
Four minutes into added time, Coedpoeth manager Jack Pawley was shown a red card for dissent and as he walked off the field, the boss might well have felt it was not his day.

However, in the seventh minute of stoppage time, his mood will have lifted when Oliver Lewis equalised for Coedy.
Play continued for a good while longer, and in the 104h minute, Greenfield scorer Edwards was dismissed for violent conduct.
All-square after a fiercely competitive encounter, which sees Greenfield still fifth and Coedpoeth down in ninth.
LEAGUE ROUND UP AND RESULTS WITH SHAUN BEST
FC Queen’s Park are now firmly in the Division One driving seat thanks to another win and rivals Broughton United suffering defeat at Hawarden Rangers.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, things continue to look bleak for Ruabon Rovers and Chirk AAA.
Things have opened up in Division Two after CPD Yr Wyddgrug scored the result of the day at league leaders Aston Park Rangers. Leon Sumner’s hat-trick also put him at the top of the scoring charts.
Congratulations to CPD Caerwys for securing the Division Three title. Karl Bacon’s winner ensured his side’s sizzling league streak continued and the champagne will undoubtedly be flowing. CPD Gronant won’t be too disappointed as they still have a chance at securing the runners-up position.
Llay Welfare’s Reserves stayed top of the pile with an emphatic victory.
Thomas Wells had a busy afternoon, providing five assists to go alongside his late penalty – his lucky 13th league strike of the season. Wells is now joint top of the scoring charts and out on his own with 14 assists.
Elsewhere, in Reserve Division Two, Billie Ellis assisted all three goals in Coedpoeth’s victory over Penyffordd.
