NORTH WALES COAST EAST: Llysfaen end winless run, victories for Amateurs, Llansannan, Cernyw and Conwy

Azz Rogers was among the scorers for Llandudno Amateurs in their win at Rhos United

NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE – FEBRUARY 14

PREMIER DIVISION

Rhos United 1 Llandudno Amateurs 4

Amateurs kept their league title bid on track but made hard work of getting past a well-organised Rhos side.
The visitors missed a load of chances in the first 25 minutes and the hosts grew into the game by defending superbly and frustrating the opposition.
Amateurs finally took the lead on 32 minutes after an excellent passage of play found the run of Scott Kearney down the left hand side and his perfectly- weighted pass picked out Jack Kearney, who made no mistake.
The away side knew at half time they had work to do with Rhos always a threat on the counter attack.
The second half started the same with Amateurs dominating the ball without making it count.
Then in the 67th minute, Amateurs lost possession and a counter from Rhos found them level after Connor Helleur slid the ball into the bottom corner.
All to play for with 20 minutes remaining and Rhos had a second wind and some belief there was another goal in it for them. This seemed to frustrate Amateurs a bit more.
In the 79th minute, however, the Llandudno side got in front again after a fantastic cross from Jack Kearney found the run of Azz Rogers back post who scored with a side-footed volley which flew past the keeper.
Amateurs now started playing with more urgency and gaps began appearing in the Rhos back line.
The visitors added 2 more goals in the 87th and 88th minutes through Danny Hughes and Billy Sieben via clinical finishes to put the game to bed.
In the end Amateurs got the job done and added 3 points to their total, but made heavy work of it which was also credit to the defensive line of Rhos United.

CPD Bro Cernyw 3 Glan Conwy 1

Seventeen-year-old Franky Gughrill put Glan ahead in the 12th minute with his 12th goal of the season, but William Hughes and Rhidian Williams replied to turn things round in Bro’s favour at half time.
Carwyn Jones clinched a welcome win for the hosts with a 76th minute third.

Conwy Borough Swifts 7 CPD Cerrigydrudion 1

Cieran Williams maintained his sensational form with a hat-trick which made it 10 goals in six games from the 19-year-old since he joined Swifts in January.
Conwy were in ruthless form at Y Morfa, sub Ethan Hill adding a double, while Freddie Banning and Isaac Carey also made the scoresheet.
Tirion Griffiths netted Cerrig’s sole reply.

CPD Y Glannau 0 CPD Llansannan 2

Leaders Llansannan took the spoils through a pair of first-half goals at Glan Clwyd Sports Centre.
Luke Molmans struck first with his ninth goal of the season before a 17th of the campaign in all competitions from Premier top marksman Lewys Jones made it two.

DIVISION ONE

Llysfaen 3 CPD Henllan 2

Llysfaen celebrated their first win in nine matches – and it had certainly been on the cards after a number of encouraging performances of late.
Hero of the day was hat-trick star Mike Chapman, a career-long goal machine who netted on 21, 31 and 51 minutes for the Faen.
Francis Roberts and Elgan Hughes responded for Henllan in a close-fought contest.
This was just a second victory of the season for Llysfaen, who remain bottom, but on this evidence look like a team on the up.
