NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE NEWS – SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14

DIVISION 1

FC Queen’s Park 4 (N Williams 3, Latham 41, Kershaw 64, Molyneyx 79)
Coedpoeth United 1 (Colley 52)

Some of the ‘usual suspects’ found the net today as Queen’s Park closed the gap on leaders Broughton United to two points with a 12th straight victory.

Prolific marksman Nicky Williams began the scoring in just the third minute with his 16th goal in all competitions this term, Jordan Williams delivering the assist.

Top-scorer Michael Latham made it 22 for the season with 41 gone, Ryan Kershaw the supplier.

Coedpoeth proved they were still in the contest seven minutes into the second half when Joe Colley halved the deficit.

In the 64th minute, the Park restored their two-goal advantage when Kershaw made the scoresheet.

And Sam Molyneux made sure the points were going to the home side when he notched the fourth on 79, Williams this time the provider.

REST OF THE ACTION WITH SHAUN BEST

In the Trophy, AFC Deeside left their comeback a little too late, but two of their substitutes did get on the scoresheet to set up a nervy finish in a 3-2 loss at Holywell United.

Remarkable comeback from Aston Park Rangers, whose never say die attitude rescued them from the brink of elimination as they rallied from 3-1 down to hold Gronant 3-3 and then triumph on spot kicks.

The chasing pack of FC Queen’s Park and Hawarden Rangers won to keep the pressure on leaders Broughton United in Division One.

Top marksman Michael Latham netted his 17th league goal of the season, while team-mate Nicky Williams moved up to 10 league goals and assists for 2025-26. Castell Alun’s Luca Nardo struck his 11th league goal in his side’s loss.

Bellevue remain rock bottom in Division Three. Skippy’s morale boosting victory moves them clear from the bottom two.
