NWCFA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE – REPORTS, FEBRUARY 8

WEST DIVISION

Holyhead Hotspur Development 3 CPD Llanberis Development 1

Noel Owen scored twice and 16-year-old Lucas Garmey was also on the mark as Holyhead Hotspur Development made it 14 wins and a draw in 15 matches, and moved 17 points clear at the West Division peak on Sunday.

Hotspur manager Scott Hakesley runs us through the action………..

Today’s league action came at a change of venue as both teams travelled to Treborth, allowing our pitch a rest from this winter weather.

Before the game got underway we paid our respects to Steve Driedyk’s father, who has sadly passed away, with a minute’s silence which was well respected by all.

As a club and team we are there for Steve and we wish him and all family the best.

As today’s game got underway we just weren’t at it from the off and struggled in our play to get going. However, there was glimpses of what we can do with several shots finding the Llanberis keeper with no joy.

Then a break down the right hand side by Casey Gregg found young Lucas Garmey to coolly slot home.

Llanberis – especially their keeper Ben Evans – did not stop and put up a really good account of themselves and were rewarded with a Mark Wayne Highes equaliser on 45 minutes to make it all-square at half time.

As staff and a squad we knew what was needed, and with a strong bench to choose from came a change of shape. We welcomed back Cameron Buckley from injury who got us moving the ball and finding those pockets to open Llanberis up and the play and goals soon followed.

Noel Owen with a goal of the season contender made it 2-1 on 67 and he rounded off a nice team effort on 75 to add a third.

With 20 minutes to go we handed young Reece Thomas his senior debut. Reece has been training with us all season and as we expected did not look out of place playing some lovely one touch passing.

The spirit in the camp is fantastic and after a few choice words at half time I got the reaction I wanted.

Today’s MoTM went to Ryan Woodruff, who did everything asked of him and more with a fantastic display of football.

Thanks to Llanberis for travelling and agreeing to time change – best of luck with your season.

Next up is an away trip to in-form Gaerwen on February 15.

Award Photography thank you for taking time out on your birthday to snapshot today’s game.

Trearddur Bay Development 3 CPD Pwllheli – Tim Datblygu 4

Cai Tibble’s 90th minute net-finder won the day for second-place Pwllheli.

First-team regular Thomas Lennon scored twice in the opening three minutes to put Trearddur Bay in command, but by the time the 10-minue mark was reached, Pwll were level through Guto Williams and Tibble.

Leo Morris restored the islanders’ lead on 22, but an Osian Williams penalty after 33 made it three-apiece at half time.

After the break the goals dried up and it appeared a draw would be the result before Tibble grabbed the decider from an assist by sub Dylan Roberts.

EAST DIVISION

Llandudno U19 Development 4 St Asaph Development 2

Bryn Williams (2) and Josh Duckenfield (2, 1 pen) ensured Llandudno took the points at Go Goodwins Stadium after Saints had grabbed a 2-0 first half lead via a Macauley Lewis double.
