CHAMPIONSHIP CONFERENCE

Nomads’ winless run against Caernarfon in the Cymru Premier stretched to seven games after Sion Bradley converted a 93rd minute penalty to earn a point for the Cofis at the Essity Stadium on Friday evening.

Far more pleasing for John Disney’s side was the fact they set a new club record of 16 CPL matches without defeat which has given them a firm hold on second spot in the table.

Caernarfon were the last team to beat Quay in the league, a 2-1 success at the Essity back in September, and after this latest encounter both managers opined afterwards they deserved maximum points.

The first half saw Bradley’s fierce strike from an angle pushed out by Kit Margetson before a follow-up from Iwan Lewis was more comfortable for the keeper to deal with.

With Nomads’ wing-backs causing plenty of problems, Callum West set up a great chance for Declan Poole, whose low hit was well blocked by custodian Connor Roberts.

The same combination carved out another opportunity for the hosts, Poole’s attempt from a West cross cleared behind for a corner by Kyle Harrison.

Roberts was at full stretch to palm away a deep cross from Rhys Hughes before the hosts grabbed a 43rd minute penalty.

Lewis brought down West and Hughes converted from the spot to make it 13 league goals this term.

Caernarfon started off the second half well, Bradley cutting in from the left and forcing Margetson to save smartly low down.

The ball came out to Town debutant Adrian Cieslewicz, whose fine cross was met by Phil Mooney’s header, but Margetson gathered comfortably.

Lewis then drilled through a crowd of players in the box and Margetson produced a superb reaction save.

Nomads were still dangerous, Abdi Sharif’s powerful effort kept out by Roberts before good defending by Dom Smith denied the hosts from the rebound.

Poole then shot wide from a good position after more fine work by Sharif.

Max Woodcock saw his shot bounce back off the chest of Roberts, but the Town stopper was first to the loose ball – just.

Then came the late penalty decision. Jason Oswell was adjudged to have fouled Adam Davies as a right-wing cross came into the box and Bradley put away the kick for his eighth goal in 12 matches.

Barry Town United 0 Colwyn Bay 1

Defender Nathan Peate’s fifth league goal of the season four minutes into the second half was enough to secure the points for Bay at Jenner Park.

Peate latched onto Matty Hill’s long throw into the box from the right to nod in the decider for the Seagulls.

Bay threatened first when Aeron Edwards’ shot was well saved at the foot of the post by home stopper George Ratcliffe.

At the other end, Alex Brown held onto Ollie Hulbert’s low drive before Bay forward Jordan Davies headed inches wide from a Louis Robles cross.

Barry’s Ieuan Owen saw his effort grasped by Brown before heading a fraction off target from a Hultbert centre, while Davies lashed into the side netting for the visitors.

Alex Moore hammered over for the Seagulls early in the second half before Peate’s header settled the issue.

PLAY-OFF CONFERENCE

Bala Town 1 Cardiff Met 1

A somewhat fortuitous equaliser from Met’s Fumpa Mwandwe denied Bala their first win over the Cardiffians in eight attempts.

Liam Higgins had a good early opening for the Lakesiders but put far too much purchase on his lob over keeper Ewan Griffiths.

Home stopper Joel Torrance produced a magnificent close range save from a Ryan Reynolds volley before the follow-up from Jasper Payne proved a little easier for the glovesman.

Bala took the lead on 33 minutes. Sam Billington created space on the left to cross and Cameron Ferguson scored with a diving header to make it three goals in as many games for the Scot.

Higgins could have made it two, but sliced wide from a good position.

Met levelled on 57 minutes when Payne, Eliot Evans and Reynolds passed from left to right and Mwande, from what was almost certainly meant as a cross, found the net over Torrance, who could only grasp at thin air.

Evans saw an attempt well saved before at the other end, a fantastic Lassana Mendes corner only needed the slightest of touches to produce a goal, but no-one in a white shirt could reach it.

A great ball from Ferguson then picked out Mendes in space, but the Spaniard blasted off target.

In added time, Cardiff could have stolen it. Sub Dixon Kabongo delivered a super cross from the left, but Reynolds miscued his volley when a goal looked a cert.

Llanelli Town 0 Flint Town United 2

Three straight wins for Flint, whose star striker Elliott Reeves made it 14 goals for the season – seven of them against Llanelli.

In two previous meetings with the South Wales Reds this term, Reeves had netted a hat-trick in each game, and in truth, he should have made it three trebles in a row against the bottom side on Saturday afternoon.

Lee Fowler’s visiting team were on top from the start, a great cross from the right from Darren Stephenson putting it on a plate for Ben Wynne, who could only head weakly straight at goalkeeper Alex Pennock – the busiest man at Stebonhealth Park.

Jake Phillips’ 25-yard stinger was well kept out by Pennock, who could only stand and watch as a Osebi Adadaki missile flew over his bar.

Reeves had a massive chance following a smart Abadaki pass, but the striker drilled across the face of goal.

Pennock performed marvels to block a Reeves shot on the turn before Flint finally took a 41st minute lead.

Stephenson slipped the ball to Jake Canavan, whose byline cross was firmly headed in by Reeves.

Llanelli came back into things a little more after the break, Tristian Jenkins bringing the best out of under-worked away keeper Jack Flint with a well-hit effort.

Reeves lashed wide before having another attempt blocked, Canavan shot for goal, but Pennock’s outstretched leg got the ball away.

Midway through a half, a clear handball led to a Flint spot-kick which Stephenson lifted high into the net to make it three goals in as many starts and six for the campaign.

Reeves went close again before Llanelli could have grabbed a late reply, but Flint dealt with Sam Parsons’ effort.
