ARDAL NORTH EAST: Sub bags decider in narrow win for Llanuwchllyn, Rhos edge Wrexham derby, late levellers leave Lex heartbroken and Corwen overjoyed

Steffan Dolben grabbed the crucial winner for Llanuwchllyn at Kerry

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH EAST – JANUARY 31

Kerry 0 Llanuwchllyn 1

Sub Steffan Dolben grabbed the all-important 74th minute goal which ensured Llanuwchllyn moved seven points clear at the summit with a narrow victory at MTJ Dolforgan Park.
While it was a quiet afternoon between the posts for visiting keeper Rob Dascalu, Llan were only able to find the net once themselves – but that was enough for a 15th win in 19 starts.
Home keeper Ryan Andrew was at his best as Sion Tudor’s men were kept at bay in the first half, despite creating plenty of opportunities.
As the second half progressed, so did Llanuwchllyn’s frustration. Their closest call saw Tommy Evans’ shot kept out by Andrew’s left foot.
Headers from top-scorer Meilir Williams and Gwydion Roberts fell into the grateful arms of the Kerry stopper.
Then with 16 minutes left, success at last for Llan. Receiving the ball from Roberts on the right, Dolben sent a cross-come-shot into the top corner.
No-one from the away camp was bothered whether Dolben meant it or not – the important thing was three points, especially with second-place Knighton being held to a home draw.

Knighton Town 1 Corwen 1

Captain Scott Evans’ 92nd minute equaliser rescued a point for Corwen at the expense of a Knighton outfit which had won their previous six games.
The hosts took the lead on 43 minutes through skipper Luke Boundford’s 23rd goal this term, but they could not find a crucial second goal and the visitors made them pay.

Lex XI 2 Radnor Valley 2

For the second time this season these sides shared a 2-2 draw.
Since finishing level with Radnor back in October, Lex had lost nine in a row in the league, but on Saturday they would have gained a first victory of the season had the visitors not bagged a 98th minute equaliser.
Matthew Croose’s 32nd minute strike gave Valley a half-time lead, but Rudi Suckley made it 1-1 on 49 and Zack Davies fired the Law in front after 77.
The home fans were willing the referee to blow for the end of the match before Croose struck eight minutes into added time from an Isaac Price assist.

Rhos Aelwyd 2 Penycae 1

Trailing 1-0 at half time, Rhos turned the tables after the break to finish on top in Saturday’s Wrexham derby.
The result leaves Penycae now without a win in seven otuings.
It looked promising for the visitors when Dominic Deacon edged them ahead after just three minutes and it stayed 1-0 up to the interval.
However, five minutes into the second half, Evan Davies made it one-apiece, James Rumsey with the assist.
And the Aelwyd’s decider arrived on 82, Dyfan Thomas finding the net with Ryan Jenkins supplying the chance.
