In their first season back in local football CPD Caerwys are promoted with many games to spare!
The Flintshire side, who took a break in 2024-25 but returned this term, clinched a spot in North East Wales League Division 2 for 2026-27 with a 5-0 win at Johnstown Youth on Saturday.
Unbeaten in the league all season, the Lon-yr-Ysgol club made it 10 wins and a draw from 11 games, scoring 48 goals and conceding just seven in the process.
Saturday saw Caerwys deliver a commanding performance on the road to secure a emphatic victory, a result that not only maintained their undefeated record, but also clinched promotion with games still to play.
From the opening whistle, Caerwys set the tempo and were rewarded early when Karl Bacon struck twice in quick succession, converting well-worked chances to give the visitors firm control of the match.
After the break, Caerwys continued to dominate possession and territory. Dan Buchanan added a third shortly after half-time, before further goals from Ryan Carrington and Chris Hoey put the result beyond any doubt.
Creativity and composure in the final third were key, with excellent service throughout the match.
Assists were shared between: David Ellis (2), Player of the Match Hoey (2) and Carrington (1).
A solid defensive display ensured a clean sheet to complete a near-perfect afternoon.
A Caerwys FC statement said: “This victory marks a huge milestone for the club — unbeaten so far this season and now officially promoted to Division Two.
“Credit goes to the players, management, and everyone involved behind the scenes for their commitment and consistency throughout the campaign.”
