North East Wales League: Holywell United stun leaders, Broughton in seven heaven, Park hit six in cup rout

NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE ROUND-UP WITH SHAUN BEST
Jones was the name and goals were the game over in the sole Division One match played which saw Chirk AAA thrashed 7-2 at home by Broughton United.
Messrs Lewis and Jake chipped in with six of the seven strikes, as leaders Broughton extended their lead at the top to eight points. The loss was Chirk’s fourth league defeat in a row, with their last victory coming three months ago.
FC Queen’s Park are another team who don’t have a problem finding the net. Today’s cup victory stretched their unbeaten run to nine games in all competitions, with their last defeat coming against Broughton United back at the beginning of October.
Leon Sumner’s hat-trick helped CPD Yr Wyddgrug post a second consecutive league victory in Division Two. The Grug remain joint bottom with Holywell United, who also won, but the gap to mid-table safety has now been significantly closed.

What a day for bottom side Holywell United, who ended the undefeated record of top team Aston Park Rangers with a 2-1 victory. United had been on a low after losing 5-3 at home to fellow strugglers Yr Wyddgrug seven days earlier.
The club said on social media: “An unreal bounce back performance and win from the lads after last week’s disappointment.
“We ended our opponents winning run in the league and earned ourselves a very important 3 points. All the best to Aston for the rest of their season.”
Joseph Jones and Joey Hughes bagged the goals which ensured Holywell battled back from 1-0 down to record one of the results of the day in North Wales.
Over in Division Three, table toppers CPD Caerwys comfortably beat basement side Bellevue to remain unbeaten in the league. AFC Deeside and CPD Gronant remain in the chase, but it’s looking likely that they will be battling it out for second place.
While Broughton United’s Reserves were booking their place in the cup final, they were also the main beneficiaries of FC Queen’s Park and Hawarden Rangers second strings playing out a draw.
Meanwhile, Seth Evans netted a 12th goal of the season for Ruthin Colts and along with Broughton’s Evan Davies is just one goal behind current top marksman Sean Humphreys.
