Thirteen matches unbeaten and a 14 point lead at the top – the start of 2026 looks every bit as good as the end of 2025 did for the Hotspur Development side.
Lucas Garmey (2), Mel McGinness, Noel Owen, Kane Astles (penalty), Luke Llewellyn and Ryan Woodruff shared the goals for Scott Hakesley’s side at the New Stadium on Sunday.
Manager Hakesley takes us through the game:
“Today we welcomed CPD Llanrug United and a return to league action. As the game got underway we felt we weren’t playing high enough and our offensive play not ticking.
“After quickly tweaking things we were soon back in control. Lucas Garmey, on his first senior start, found himself on the scoresheet early on, followed by a Melv McGinness wonder strike from 35 yards.
“Ten minutes later a great solo effort from Noel Owen, turning his man and slotting home, took us into half time 3-0.
“Two changes made at half time and a change of shape saw us take full control, Kane Astles slotting home a penalty shortly followed by MOTM Garmey getting his second.
“Hard-working Luke Llewelyn popped up with a well-finished team goal and Ryan Woodruff, welcomed back from injury, found the back of the net to finish off a great team performance. 7-0 it finished – that’s now 8 clean sheets in 14
“Since the Christmas break the whole squad has been used and all are performing great. Thanks to Llanrug for travelling down, great game as usual played in the right manner best wishes for rest of the season. Next week we are away to Mynydd Llandegai.
“We also now know our our opponent in the next round of the cup will be Pwllheli.
“Once again thank you for all the support.“

Good derby win for Gaerwen, Noa Williams (2), Jamie Patterson and Anthony Williams their scorers, Ashley Davies and Cain Edwards replying.
CPD Pentraeth Development 6 Bontnewydd Development 1
Celt Wyn Rowlands notched a hat-trick – which included a penalty – for Pentraeth, whose other goals came via Alan Blankley, sub Connor O’Neill and an Owen Jones OG, Mathew Roberts responding for Bont.
EAST DIVISION
Prestatyn Sports Development 1 Penmaenmawr Phoenix Development 5
Harry Birchall (2), Billy Sieben, Harry Benjamin and Mei Evans divided the goals for winners Phoenix, Osian Davies with a consolation for the hosts.
Prestatyn Wanderers Development 1 CPD Y Glannau Tim Datblygol 7
Andrew George (3), Gregory Parry (2), Ben Williams and Michael Norval produced the seven goals for Y Glannau, who had Dion Channer and Harri Hughes red-carded in the 76th minute, captain Dougie Lonsdale with Wanderers’ consolation.
DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE CUP
CPD Llanberis Development 3 Glan Conwy Development 2
Goals from Guto Jones (2) and sub Nathan Ash won it for Llanberis, who had Ceian Jones and Llyr Elwyn sent off, Ryan Boyle and David Hansom on the mark for Glan.
Mochdre Sports Development 4 Kinmel Bay Development 2
Mighty Mochdre made it 14 straight wins at the expense of Kinmel Bay – the only team to beat them all season back on the opening day.
Soloman Moore and Tom Wardle bagged two apiece for the hosts, Cam Berry and Christian Akoha having brought Bay level by half time.
The visitors had Lewie Foston sent off for two yellows in the second half.
CPD Mynydd Llandegai Development 3 CPD Nefyn United – Tim Datblygu 4 (AET)
Hari Owen Williams netted the 105h minute decider as Nefyn edged through in extra time.
Iago Jones, Liam Williams and Llyr Williams were the home hitmen, Luke Allaway and Rhys Gough Williams (2) on target for the Penwaig before the winning goal.

Owen Sidney won this tie for Henllan with the only goal four minutes into added time after the 90.
Trearddur Bay Development 1 CPD Pwllheli – Tim Datblygu 5
Sixteen-year-old sub Cai Tibble showed he is one for the future with two second-half strikes for Pwllheli at Lon Isallt.
Osian Williams, Cai Tate and Harri Grant supplied the remainder for the visitors, Harley Owen the Trearddur scorer.
