“Here to stay” – chairman Nick Pritchard puts record straight about his future commitment to CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876

Nick Pritchard will remain chairman of CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 and is committed as ever to getting the club into the Cymru Premier League.

The successful businessman organised a media conference this evening to quash rumours surrounding the club.

Are you staying on as Bangor City 1876 chairman?

“There’s been a few rumours in the past few days that I’m going to walk away from the club and take on a political career.

“We all know I have a big interest in politics, but it’s not necessarily to get into a specific party, it’s more about creating change in the area.

“I can see why people are nervous that I may be moving into a political career, and recently I had a very good offer to join a party at quite a senior level, but obviously with the commitment that I’ve got to the club, the investment that we’ve made in the club – my hashtag is #bangortotheprem – so I had to take all those things into consideration to come up with the decision that I wouldn’t leave this club until we are in the Prem.

“These rumours are just rumours, I will be the chairman until I get fired, my plan is still the plan and our plan is to move into the Welsh Premiership.”

There have also been rumours of a ‘super club’ being created between us and Trearddur Bay

“Obviously I’m going to quash these rumours because we are already a super club in my opinion.

“There are no discussions about any super club other than THIS super club.”

It’s been obvious on the pitch and off the pitch the investment you’ve put into the club. There’ve been a few rumours about what could happen if you lost any interest. Have you lost any interest?

“If anybody thinks that it’s quite upsetting given the fact that I probably spend more time here than I do with my own businesses.

“My vision has been the same from the beginning. We’ve got the club to where it is now, we’ve spent an awful lot of money on it. I wouldn’t invest that kind of money into an asset like this that I don’t own – it’s council owned – if I didn’t have a great future plan for the club.

“We’re having discussions now around the academy, we’ve brought in some amazing people working with us at the academy. We’ve got massive plans for the club – obviously to get to the Welsh Prem, that is my vision, that is the goal, I think the fans are behind me on that, we’ve got the vision for the academy, we’ve got new expansion plans with regards to outside bars and stands over the coming seasons.

“We’ve got massive investment plans for the stadium, so hopefully that will pacify anybody to kind of understand how much passion I’ve got for this club, this stadium, this city, and the future vision of getting Bangor into Europe and the Welsh Premier.”
