Penycae Football Club are searching for a new manager

Ardal North East club Penycae are on the lookout for a new manager after Jack Ellis announced he is stepping down this week.

Ellis has moved on to The New Saints, where he will help new head-coach Kieran Lee-Birch run the women’s side, who compete in the Genero Adran Premier.

Lee-Birch had until recently been coach at Afoneitha Road alongside Ellis.

Ellis took over as Penycae first-team boss early in 2024 having previously been manager at Chirk AAA, as well as holding technical coaching roles at The New Saints and Bala Town.

The 35-year-old Ellis had been at the Penycae helm for 68 league and cup matches, winning 24 and drawing 13, but the current season has seen a significant upturn in fortunes, with the first team sitting fourth in Ardal North East at the turn of 2026.

A statement from Penycae on the departing duo read: “The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Jack and Kieran for their hard work, passion, and dedication over the past two years.

“Their efforts have played a key role in helping the club establish itself in the Ardal North East League, and their contribution will always be appreciated.

“We hope your time at the club can be looked back on with pride, and please remember you will always be welcome at the Cae.

“Thank you, Jack and Kieran, and we wish you both the very best in your future endeavours.”
