JD WELSH CUP THIRD ROUND – NOVEMBER 22, 2025

Llandudno 2 (Maher 18, Weaver 32)
Connah’s Quay Nomads 1 (Roberts 81)

Win number 11 on the bounce for Llandudno put them into the last 16 of the Welsh Cup at the expense of Cymru Premier favourites Connah’s Quay Nomads.

The visitors, on an eight-match unbeaten run themselves going into Friday night’s clash, simply got going too late and it was the Seasiders who deservedly clinched their place in round four.

The Tier 2 Cymru North leaders took an 18th minute lead when Adam Stephens set up Ben Maher to hit a right-foot drive into the left-hand corner of the net against his former club.

Llandudno’s second goal on 32 minutes was via a move straight from the training ground.

A short corner was worked to Anthony Stephens, whose left foot cross from the right was headed in powerfully by Ross Weaver.

Nomads did not create much in the first half, Noah Edwards volleying wide after a Max Woodcock cross was cleared.

Edwards looked to be brought down just inside the box by Anthony Stephens close to half time, but despite strong protests from the Quay player, referee Mark Petch waved play on.

Llandudno had a great chance to make it 3-0 after the break when Aidan Higgins broke to the byline and found Jordan Pownall who blasted over the bar from a good position.

Nomads applied some late pressure and got back into the tie after 81 minutes when Chris Marriott passed to fellow sub Dan Roberts who lashed home an absolute cracker from 25 yards.

Llandudno were denied what looked like a clear penalty in the dying stages before from the final move of the match, Nomads sub Zeli Ismael delivered from the right and Dan Cowan’s downward header came back off the post.
