GENERO ADRAN NORTH – OCTOBER 5

Llandudno 1 (Kerfoot-Robson 90+1)
CPDM Y Felinheli 2 (E Jones 7, Huws 24)

This result was the perfect boost for Y Felinheli ahead of next Sunday’s ultra-tough test at champions Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Adran Trophy.

After unluckily losing their opening league game 3-2 at home to Llanfair United, Aaron Jones-Evans side needed a tonic at Go Goodwins Stadium and certainly got it with a first three points of the campaign.

The Cae Seilo team led 2-0 at the break courtesy of goals from Ellie Jones and Alaw Huws and although Tudno replied late on through sub Seren Kerfoot-Robson, it did not affect the final outcome.

Winning manager Jones-Evans said: “A great win for us and it gives us something to build on moving forward. It’s a tough start to the season for us but we are tackling it head on.

“It’s a very competitive league this year and every point counts, but I’m happy for the women, they all worked very hard for that result today.

We will be looking forward to Sunday now, you have to move on to the next and hopefully build on the performance today.”

Felinheli could have been four or five-up at half time. They were very disciplined in their defensive shape and posed a lot of danger in attack.

They took a seventh-minute lead when a great low ball into the box via Llywela Edwards was met by a razor-sharp finish from Ellie Jones.

In the 24th minute, Jenna Tugwell-Allsup worked hard way to the byline on the right, drilled in a cross and Alaw Huws slid in to deliver the scoring touch.

Felin started with Ellie Jones in the No10 role, while Elsi Williams played right wing-back, both performing very well.

With central-defender Kelly Jones returning to the starting 11 as well as Edwards, it made a massive difference in calming things down and bringing security at the back. Anna Jones and Katie Midwinter were commanding in midfield.

One of the stars of the show for Felin was keeper Catrin Beech, who produced some fantastic stops to keep Llandudno at bay until their very late reply.
