Who’s going and who’s staying? Wrexham AFC Women reveal released/retained list for 2025-26

Amber Lightfoot is leaving Wrexham AFC Women

Report: Will Pritchard, Wrexham AFC

Wrexham AFC Women have announced their released/retained list ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Rebecca Pritchard, who scored the goal against Briton Ferry Llansawel at Latham Park which secured Wrexham’s place in the top-flight of Welsh football has departed the club upon the expiry of her contract.

Pritchard, who was a part of the original Welsh Premier League side back in 2014/15, rejoined the club in 2021 and made 95 appearances in total upon her return – which included scoring their first goal in the Genero Adran Premier at the Rock against Swansea City in September 2023.

Amber Lightfoot also leaves the club, ending a four-season association, which started out with Wrexham’s title-winning U19 side, playing alongside Lili Jones for both U19 and first-team.

Lightfoot was named Players’ Player of the Season in 2023, alongside being awarded the Genero Adran North Young Player of the Season. In total, she recorded 91 first-team appearances, scoring 45 goals.

Finally, Wrexham AFC Women’s longest-serving player, Katie Sharp, says farewell to the club following 83 competitive appearances alongside eight goals.

The defender made 28 appearances in the Genero Adran Premier – scoring a crucial goal to equalise in the Red Dragons’ dramatic 3-2 cross-border victory over TNS in January 2024.

Additionally, Brooke Cairns departed Wrexham in the summer to take up a new opportunity with Burnley.
