Turtle Power! A new era begins for Colwyn Bay Football Club

Colwyn Bay FC return to the JD Cymru Premier this weekend and the club’s new owners have big ambitions which they hope will also benefit the local area and community.

The Seagulls host Connah’s Quay Nomads in their opening league game of the season on Sunday, 10 August (Kick-Off 5pm) and are hoping for a big crowd.

To mark their return to the Cymru Premier, fans attending the game will be entered into a draw with prizes worth over £3,000 on offer including a first prize of £1,500 in cash.

Bay won last season’s JD Cymru North title and secured promotion to Welsh football’s top-flight for the second time in their history.

The close season has seen significant off the field activity with Jody and Carly Johnson – the founders of The Blue Turtle Group Ltd – becoming the club’s new major shareholders.

Improvements have been made at The Blue Turtle Arena during the close season with refurbishment of the clubhouse, new turnstiles and expanding the playing surface to comply with Uefa criteria.

Manager Mike Wilde has also added to the squad ahead of the new campaign with a number of significant signings.

With the Cymru Premier expanding to 16 teams at the end of the season, the club are looking to establish themselves in the top flight

“It’s not just about surviving,” Jody Johnson said.

“We’re aiming to compete and we want to enjoy some big nights this coming season.”

Plans are already in place to make matchdays more vibrant with improved food, entertainment, and a welcoming atmosphere that keeps fans around after the final whistle.

“This is about making the club a more desirable place,” he added.

“We want everyone connected to Colwyn Bay FC – from the junior teams to the women’s team, the senior men, and walking football – to feel at home here.

“And we also have further exciting plans that will announce in due course that will see the club become even more visible and prominent in the local community.”
