Two experienced defenders join Llangefni Town ladies

Two players with experience of winning league titles have signed for Llangefni Town ladies.

Cara Aston and Carys Lock have joined the Ynys Môn club from CPDM Bangor and South Wales-based Penybont Women respectively.

Aston, 29, first made her mark in 2018-19 as a member of the Bethesda Athletic invincibles which won the North Wales Women’s League Division Two championship at the first attempt.

She moved on to Llanberis in the shortened 2019-20 season and when football returned after Covid in 2021-22, she had signed for CPDM Bangor.

Aston was in the Bangor squad which won the North Wales Women’s League title without losing a single game in 2022-23, scoring a goal in a 9-0 victory over Flint Town United.

She spent four seasons with the Citizens before deciding to join Llangefni for the 2025-26 campaign.

A solid defender, she is strong in the tackle and can strike a dead-ball very sweetly.

Centre-back Lock, 22, was captain of the Bangor University Women’s team which secured the BUCS Northern Tier 4a league title in 2022-23 after an undefeated season.

The champions were jointly led by club captain Abigail Jones and team captain Lock.

Most of Lock’s club-playing career has been spent with Penybont in the South Wales Women’s and Girls League.

Aston and Lock join Lowri Thomas, Jordan Roberts and goalkeeper Mia Gleave as new signings at Cefni this summer.
