Great news for North Wales women’s football – Anna Jones comes home!
After more than five years of playing in the English football pyramid Anna Wyn Jones is coming home.
The 30-year-old midfielder from Caernarfon has joined CPDM Y Felinheli of the tier 2 Adran North league for the 2025-26 season.
A hard-working, tough-tackling, skilful midfielder, Anna left Welsh football in February 2020, signing for Chester FC Women of the North West Women’s Regional Football League.
In January 2023, she moved to higher-tier Tranmere Rovers, but after two-and-a-half successful seasons with the Wirral club, the former Welsh Premier player has decided to return to North Wales.
Felinheli manager Aaron Jones-Evans is understandably delighted to sign Anna for his second-tier side.
“It is a big boost to add such a talented, experienced player to our ranks,” he said.
“We know that she had so many options after leaving Tranmere this year and that is normal for such a high profile player, but we are over the moon that she chose Felinheli, not only for her skillset but for the help and guidance she can offer some of our young players and the wealth of knowledge she brings to our changing rooms.
“She has so much more to offer than just her football, everyone at the club will benefit from having Anna around including the coaching and management staff.

ANNA JONES’ FOOTBALL JOURNEY
Anna played football from a young age in primary school and at nine joined Bethel Girls Under-11’s.
She represented Bethel until she was 16, and also played for North Wales between the ages of 13-16.
In 2011, she joined Caernarfon Town, where she went on to enjoy great success as a midfielder/left winger.
She won the Betty Pickering Cup in 2015-16 and 2016-17, was part of the 2016-17 North Wales Women’s League title-winning squad and then represented the Canaries in the Welsh Premier Women’s League.
In that double-winning 2016-17 campaign, Anna netted 16 goals for the Cofis in all competitions.
Anna has also scooped the BUCS League championship with Bangor University Women’s FC twice and competed in the Costa Blanca Cup with Caernarfon.
After Town pulled out of the WPWL in 2018-19, Anna moved to another top flight club Llandudno, where she was an outstanding performer in the midfield.
When Tudno resigned from the league in 2019-20, Anna joined Chester FC Women in February 2020.
