NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE DIV ONE REPORTS – JUNE 7

Just three points separate the top four in Division One after a day of disruption because of the weather.

Captain Isaac Allen produced some explosive batting as Mold stormed to a 10-wicket victory in a rain-ravaged game reduced to 20 overs per side.

Asked to bat, Brymbo seconds made 74-3 off their 20, openers Gareth Pugh and Adam Smith scoring 28 and 25 respectively.

Jon Crane took 2-26 and Allen 1-3 for the hosts.

In reply, the Flintshire team raced to 77-0 in just 6.5 overs, skipper Allen cracking an unbeaten 47 off just 21 balls with five sixes and four fours, Thomas North ending 28 not out from 20 deliveries with three boundaries and two maximums.

Llandudno edged into second spot with a 47-run success at Ty Newydd in a weather-controlled match cut to 25 overs per team.

Winning the toss and batting, Kevin James was Tudno’s top contributor with 29 not out in a total of 104-5, Hadi Zaidi 2-22 and Ollie Dawson 2-23 for the Citizens.

Bangor seconds could only manage 57-7 in response against the accurate visiting attack.

Tom Thornton bagged 3-16 off nine and Jack Rimmington 3-21 from the same number of overs.

Points: 12-3 Llandudno.

Pontblyddyn (3) 113-5 Northop 2nd XI (3) 0-0 – abandoned

Ben Mason (42 not out) and Vishwa Manawaduge (42) helped get Pont to 113-5 off 25.1 overs before the weather caused an abandonment.
