Arise The Invincibles – Penmaenmawr Phoenix are the latest in an elite group of senior North Wales football teams to emerge through an entire league campaign undefeated.

Already crowned North Wales Coast East Premier Division champions, Phoenix ended 2024-25 with a 2-2 draw at Cerrigydrudion to ensure their final stats read: Played 28 Won 22 Drawn 6 Lost 0.

In what is the greatest season in the club’s history, they have achieved a treble of league champions, plus Cookson Cup and NWCFA Intermediate Cup winners.

Phoenix looked to be well on their way to victory today when they took a two-goal lead inside the first 16 minutes.

Mike Williams grabbed the opener after three, Logan Williams with the assist, and Adam Hold set up James Hobson for the second – his 24th goal of the season.

The game was far from over, however, with third-place Cerrig keen to put a dent in Pen’s impeccable record.

In the 67th minute, Tomos Tryfan Jones halved the deficit, Harri Watkin-Jones with the assist and on 85, Delwyn Jones made it two-apiece.

There was to be no winner, so at the final whistle Cerrig could feel reasonably pleased at coming back from two-down to hold the champions, while Phoenix could rejoice at completing a season they will never forget as unbeaten league title-winners.
