Heard the one about the 16-year-old girl who scored 52 goals in her first season in senior women’s football?
Sounds far-fetched doesn’t it? But it has really happened – and in North Wales!
Beth Roberts of CPDM Henllan netted six times in today’s 8-0 win at Welshpool Town to pass the 50 mark for the campaign.
Her 52 league and cup goals have come in just 18 appearances!
She has pocketed 43 in 11 North East Wales Women’s League East Division matches, six in the Betty Pickering Cup and three in the Shield.
Beth has now matched Jess Jones’ women’s “modern day” record of 52 goals in a North Wales season set in 2023-24.
Former Wrexham striker Lowri Edwards scored 65 goals in 32 appearances back in 2011-12, but it is believed Jess and Beth’s totals are the highest since then.
And Beth has one more game left to add to her tally – away to Northop Hall next Sunday.
Beth has rattled up nine hat-tricks this term including nine goals in one game, two sixes and a seven.
She is the first footballer, male or female, to reach 50 goals in North Wales senior football this season.
