Ardal North East – tension grows in title race after midweek results

The tension in the 2024-25 Lock Stock Ardal North East title race is racing towards fever pitch.

Leaders Dolgellau’s crucial win at fellow hopefuls Llanuwchllyn on Wednesday, plus a big away triumph for Brickfield Rangers, has only added to the drama.

After the midweek results, four teams are still in contention to finish up champions:

1st: Dolgellau AA – Played 27 Points 60 Goal Difference +30
2nd: Bow Street – Played 27 Points 56 GD +47
3rd Brickfield Rangers – Played 24 Points 53 GD +30
4th Llanuwchllyn – Played 25 Points 51 GD +33

This Saturday, the intensity grows as leaders Dolgellau host Brickfield, who have lost just one of their last 14 league matches.

Still a few twists and turns to come for sure.

Some welcome cheer for Albion as an Alex Williams double and Torne Samuels single won them the Wrexham area derby at Clywedog Park.

Llangollen Town 2 Brickfield Rangers 5

Three late goals led Brickfield to a vital success at Tower Fields.

Andy Vale put Rangers ahead on the half-hour, but two goals in three minutes from William Cooke and Louie Middlehurst edged Town in front.

Vale levelled a minute before the break with his 31st goal of the season.

It remained 2-2 until the 77th minute, when Aiden Fox gave Bricky the lead.

Captain Kiran Russell soon made it 4-2 and Vale completed his hat-trick on 87

Llanuwchllyn 0 Dolgellau AA 2

Huge win for the leaders at the Village Hall ground.

Gerwyn Williams broke the deadlock on 33 minutes from a Dennis Bates assist.

Osian Morris made it 26 goals in 26 league games with Dolgellau’s second on 48 minutes, Paul Lewis setting him up.

That made it five straight wins for the visitors and seven victories in their last eight games.

Five on the road for Bow, who kept their title hopes alive.
Caio Carruthers, Callum Page, Steffan Richards, Ryan Evans and sub Sion Ewart bagged a goal apiece.

Llanuwchllyn 3 Llanfair United 1

Meilir Williams’ 43rd goal in all competitions set Llanuwchllyn on their way.

Joe Vaughan and sub Meirion Pughe made it 3-0 before a late own goal from home keeper Rob Dascalu put Llanfair on the scoreboard.

Radnor Valley 2 Cefn Albion 2

Albion led twice, Osian Morris and Tyler Wilkinson on the mark, but replies from Joe Price and Josh Traylor-Hall earned Radnor a share of the spoils.

LOCK STOCK ARDAL LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINAL

Brickfield Rangers 3 Trearddur Bay 1

Goals from Tom Freeman, Steve Watkins and top-scorer Andy Vale sent Brickfield deservedly through to the final where either Porthmadog or Radnor Valley await.

Harri Jones brought Bay level on the 50-minute mark, but Rangers gained sweet revenge for a 7-2 loss to Trearddur in the FAW Trophy in February.
