North Wales interest in the FAW Amateur Trophy is over for another season.
In today’s semi-finals, Llanrwst United were beaten 1-0 by tier 6 club Penygraig United, while Trearddur Bay went down 3-1 to tier 4 underdogs Port Talbot Town.
Both results were somewhat surprising with both the Rwsters and Beach Boys being tier 3 Ardal North West clubs.
At Latham Park, Newtown, an 11th minute goal from Tai Watts was enough to earn Penygraig of the South Wales Premier Division One East a place in the final.
Park Avenue, Aberystwyth, was the venue for the other semi, where South Wales Premier outfit Port Talbot had a Jordan Edwards double and Aidan Chappell-Smith strike to thank for seeing off Trearddur 3-1, the Anglesey side replying late on through Joe Chaplin’s sixth goal of the competition.
