Happy birthday: India is an important part of Flint

India Howarth is 19 today

Few players could have made as impressive a debut for their new club as India Howarth did for Flint Town United back in September.

Operating in a more advanced midfield role than usual, India was not only outstanding in a 4-3 Genero Adran Trophy victory over Llanfair United, she marked the occasion with a goal.

Today is India’s 19th birthday and what a fine prospect she is.

The only drawback where Flint is concerned lies in the fact India studies at Derby University so her availability this season is restricted. She has made four appearances for the Silkwomen so far.

Rhydymwyn-based India signed for Flint in the summer as the Silkies looked to strengthen their squad ahead of a first campaign as a Tier 2 Genero Adran North side.

She arrived at the Essity Stadium with a reputation as a promising young defender who had emerged through the ranks at Airbus UK Broughton, beginning at the club academy.

India was part of the very talented Airbus side which reached the North Wales Under-16 Cup semi-final in 2021-22. The Wingmakers lost 1-0 to eventual tournament winners, a very highly rated Caernarfon Town team.

In March 2022, aged 16 India made her debut for the Airbus women’s first team in a Genero Adran North clash with Llandudno.

As well as playing regularly thereafter for the Under-19s, India also established herself in the first XI, who struggled at times against older, more experienced sides in Adran North, but still displayed plenty of promise.

India made 37 first team appearances and played 12 times for the under-19s prior to her move to Flint Town United along with fellow defender Alaw Jones in July 2024.

Generally a centre-back, India previously represented North Wales at age group level.

She also loves her music and massively enjoys attending concerts.

It’s a big happy birthday to a player with bags of potential. Penblwydd hapus India!
