Ardal North West title hopefuls CPD Y Rhyl 1879 have added a highly-regarded local goal-getter to their squad.

The Lilywhites have signed 22-year-old Archie Jones from fellow ANW side NFA.

The talented forward has been in outstanding form this season as NFA have made a flying start in tier 3, notching 11 goals including two hat-tricks.

A local lad with a strong connection to the town, Archie began his football journey at Rhyl Academy before moving on to Glan Conwy, Prestatyn Town, where he represented the first team, reserves and development side, and also had a brief spell with NFA at the start of 2022-23.

In 2023-24, he signed for St Asaph City, featuring mainly for the reserves for whom he netted 13 goals.

He joined NFA at the start of the current campaign and had reached double figures in front of goal before deciding on a move to Rhyl 1879.

Lilywhites manager Paul Moore said: “Despite interest from several Welsh Premier League clubs, we are thrilled to have secured his signature. The competition for Archie’s services was fierce, but we are excited to bring him to 1879 and look forward to seeing him continue to develop in a Lilywhite shirt.

“As a proven goal scorer, Archie adds depth and quality to our attacking options. His pace, technical ability, and versatility make him a valuable asset to the group as we look to strengthen our push for success in the Ardal North West.”
