Bangor manager Aron Griffith was full of praise for the way visitors Caernarfon made his team fight all the way for their victory.
Had it not been for some crucial one-on-one saves from home keeper Catrin Roberts, the outcome could have been different.
Cerys Parry put Bangor ahead on 10 minutes, Erin Basinger with the assist, but the Cofis levelled through Elan Evans with 20 gone. The Cofis then struck the bar.
Georgia Owen-Lewis put the citizens 2-1 up in the 34th minute, Ashleigh Jones setting her up, and Seren Macdonald added a third on 39, her twin sister Cerys assisting.
Winning boss Griffith said after the game: “Very happy at getting the win – always a positive outcome in winning in the local derby.
“We did start the match off well, controlling possession, making chances and we scored first, but I think we switched off and thought the game was done which was a big mistake as Caernarfon took their chance to make it 1-1 and then hit the bar.
“I think then we realised things needed to change and capitalised to make it 3-1 before the break.
“Personally I thought we dictated the second half, so overall happy with the performance from the girls.
“Also I’d like to add, despite being in a tier below us, Caernarfon pushed us all the way and credit where credit is due they have improved a lot since our last encounter.
“Also I’d like to thank Owain their manager in organising a minute silence for the passing of my partner’s mother and also for Carol’s uncle and our former player Ceri Lois’s grandfather Gibbs 💙thank you means a lot.
“Very tough game next week in Llandudno again and we’ll need to carry on this momentum in trying to get a result.”
