Stunning news from the Cymru Premier tonight – Bala Town have beaten The New Saints for just the second time in 52 ATTEMPTS going back to 2009-10.
The Lakesiders’ previous sole success over the champions came in August 2019, when Colin Caton’s side triumphed 3-1 at Maes Tegid.
September 24, 2024, will go down as the date where Bala won a league game at Park Hall for the first time ever.
The record between the two sides in the Cymru Premier over 16 season is now…..
Tonight’s victory for Town was more sensational than usual as it came so late.
Saints took a fifth-minute lead through Sion Bradley, but Christian Norton levelled on 12.
When Daniel Williams made it 2-1 TNS on 87 it looked like more late heartbreak for the :Lakesiders, but Alex Downes levelled two minutes into added time and then Hussein Mehasseb wrote himself into club folklore by landing a 98th minute winner.
It was a home league defeat for TNS for the first time since March 2022.
And it was two consecutive league defeats for TNS for the first time since October 2019.
Before losing at Penybont last weekend, TNS were on a 30-match winning run in the Cymru Premier.
The club has won the CPL title a record 16 times.
But tonight, early days though it is, they are sixth in the table although with games in hand on teams above them.
