Genero Adran Trophy Group 2 – September 8

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1 (Chelsea Evans 46)
Flint Town United 3 (Haynes 24, Hastings 51 & 55)

A quickfire Ruby Hastings double early in the second half sealed a second successive win in Group 2 for Flint over a Rhyl side which had started so well after the interval with an equalising goal.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

3 min: Rhyl defender Sophie Haywood is injured and sub Jade Scott makes an early introduction.
10 min: Rhyl’s Laura Williams lets fly with her trusty left foot but keeper Becky Bott gathers well.
17 min: Early setback for Flint as left-back Chloe Hughes leaves the field injured after needing a second spell of treatment. Charlotte Xena Rose replaces her.
19 min: Rhyl striker Sade Benjamin drives ball towards the near post, Bott grasps at the second attempt
24 min – GOAL: From their first major attack Flint score! Rosie Hughes breaks from outside her own box and runs 50 yards before sending a perfectly-timed pass to JENNIFER HAYNES who applies a clinical finish past the advancing keeper. RHYL 0 FLINT 1

Flint’s goalscorers Jennifer Haynes (left) and Ruby Hastings (15) exchange mutual congratulations

40 min: Bott makes a great stop after Benjamin shoots on the turn.

HALF-TIME: Rhyl 0 Flint 1

46 min – GOAL: Rhyl start the second half in lively fashion and are soon level.
Bott spills a delivery across the six-yard box, Charlotte Walters gets the visitors out of jail with sublime defending, but Flint fail to clear the lines. Llio Davies’ shot is well saved by Bott’s outstretched leg, but CHELSEA EVANS lashes the rebound in off the bar. RHYL 1 FLINT 1

Chelsea Evans (14) fires home for Rhyl

49 min: Flint look a little shell-shocked and Benjamin breaks clear on the right but blasts into the side-netting.
51 min – GOAL: Quite a response from Flint. Rosie Hughes plays neat pass down the left for Haynes, whose cross from the byline is met by a Kaelyn Williams airshot (or a genius dummy?) and RUBY HASTINGS finishes at the back post via a deflection. RHYL 1 FLINT 2
55 min – GOAL: Kaelyn Williams plays a slide-rule pass into the path of HASTINGS, who applies a beautiful lofted finish over the keeper. RHYL 1 FLINT 3
59 min: Rosie Hughes is through on the keeper, but shoots over the bar.

Rhyl’s Sade Benjamin manages to get a shot away despite the attention of Ruby McGilloway

67 min: A fine run from Rosie Hughes ends with a shot which Bethan Thomas keeps out.
77 min – Yellow card: Rhyl defender Llinos Hughes is cautioned for foul on impressive Flint sub Erin Heathcote
82 min: Chelsea Evans shoots from distance and does not miss by much.
84 min: Llio Davies is through for the hosts, but Bott makes a good block.

FULL-TIME: Rhyl 1 Flint 3
