Senior football newcomers CPD Merched Henllan will not forget their first competitive match in a hurry.
The Denbighshire village side grabbed an added-time equaliser to claim a cracking 4-4 draw at Airbus.
The hosts, relegated from Tier 2 last season, are a highly promising young side who would perhaps have been expected to see off the challenge of the new kids on the block.
However, Henllan, a major success in female football at junior level over recent seasons, proved they have much to offer in the seniors too.
Airbus started brightly, with Henllan leeper Siwan Williams making a great double save after five minutes.
The visitors settled and Beth Roberts hit the bar on 20.
In the 33rd minute, the away side took the lead when Abby Cattell saw the keeper off her line and looped the ball into the net from 30 yards.
Airbus began the second half in determined fashion and were 2-1 up before the hour courtesy of a Laura Pratt double.
Beth Roberts was through one on one just a minute later, but keeper Ruby Stevens made a great save.
Soon after Roberts was in the clear again and this time coolly lifted the ball over the advancing Stevens for 2-2.
henllan’s Lleucu Williams scored the goal of the game on 69 – a thunderous shot into the top corner from distance.
Airbus rallied again and led 4-3 through goals from Erin Heath and Ffion Jones with the 90 minutes passed.
However, in the 95th minute a Cattell corner found Elin Griffiths at the back post and she tapped in with the last kick of the game.
