CRICKET: North Wales League Div One – wins for Dolgellau, Bethesda, Mold, Hawarden Park, Brymbo 2nds & Northop 2nds

NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – AUGUST 24

DIVISION ONE

Abergele (0) 51-10 Dolgellau (15) 52-0

South African all-rounder Lafras Van Vuuren claimed a stunning 7-16 for a Dolgellau side which romped to a 10-wicket victory at Pentre Mawr Park.

Abergele, who scored 233 the previous weekend, were all out for just 51 seven days later after winning the toss and electing to bat. Jack Williams also bagged 2-4 for the visitors, who eased to 52-0 off 31 balls, Morgan Yorke 30 not out.

Brymbo 2nd XI (14) 101-3 Pontblyddyn (1) 100-10

Pont were all out for just 100 after being put in, Ross Roberts 3-22, Gareth Pugh 2-29 and Jack Bettis 2-5 for the Steelmen, who reached a winning 101-3 in response, Christopher Craven 34 not out.

Connah’s Quay (3) 108-10 Mold (12) 150-10

Visitors Mold recovered from 45-7 to set 150 all out, Jon Crane (35 no) and George Godwin (31) helping the recovery with Lee Davies snapping up 5-20 and Rhys Stout 2-0 for Quay.

The hosts were then dismissed for 108, Brody Camp a defiant 57 no, Randhir Tomar 3-29, Thomas North 3-44 and Godwin 2-14 for the victorious away team.

Conwy (2) 98-10 Bethesda (13) 155-10

Carwyn L Williams shone with the ball on this occasion for Bethesda

Bethesda captain Carwyn L Williams usually stars with the bat, but on Saturday he was a wizard with the ball, taking 5-11 off nine overs as the visitors sent Conwy packing for just 98 after scoring 155 all out themselves, Richie Parry 32, Vaughan Williams 3-22 for the hosts.

Andrew Day also bowled well for Bethesda, grabbing 3-30.

Halkyn (1) 131-10 Northop 2nd XI (14) 216-9

Josh Griffiths struck 77 and Henry Dowd 66 as Northop seconds posted a challenging 216-9 off their 45 overs, James Beresford 5-34 and Graeme Settle 4-32 for the hosts, who were all out for 131, Mark Poynton 4-27 and Tom Sudder 2-11 for the leaders.

Hawarden Park (15) 216-9 Buckley (0) 87-10

Skipper Campbell Marr struck 70 and Owen Skillander 45 in Hawarden’s winning total of 216-9, Danny Sprake 2-30 for Buckley, who were themselves skittled out for just 87, Evan Shaw 4-14 and Tom Norris 3-10 for the hosts.
