Sienna Strapp has recorded the first goal of her soccer adventure in America.
The 19-year-old from Hawarden, formerly with Northop Hall, Connah’s Quay Nomads and Stoke City scored for Life University in their 3-1 away win at Spartanburg Methodist.
Sienna, usually a defender, popped up in the opposition box and applied a composed finish after being found with a neat delivery over the Spartanburg defence.
The goal was captured on video and includes the match announcer calling out the scorer’s name over the loudspeaker: “Goal by number 20 – Sienna Strapp.”
She said after the game: “I played very well I feel. The game was 3 hours away so was a very long day yesterday but super worth it.”
For the next four years, Sienna will be studying for a degree in sports psychology while being a full time athlete at the uni based around 20 minutes from Atlanta.
The teenager is best known in North Wales for her two seasons with Nomads, where she scooped two NEWFA Challenge Cup winners’ medals and played a key role in the Deesiders finishing runners-up in the tier 2 Genero Adran North League in 2022-23.
