What a start Chirk’s Andrew Swarbrick made to Saturday’s bowling spell!
The all-rounder took four wickets in his first over against Lilleshall – including a hat-trick. Even for such an accomplished bowler, this was the first time he had achieved such a feat.
Swarbrick also embarked on the road towards 500 career wickets as he claimed 5-30 in Chirk’s emphatic success at Lilleshall on Saturday.
The left-armer, who recently reached the 400-victims mark, is now on 405 after a day in which the Welsh visitors dominated play.
Put into bat, the away side were all out for a formidable 205, Liam Walker making 56 and Swarbrick 39.
In reply, the hosts were blown away for 69, Swarbrick’s five-for well backed by Liam Walker’s 3-7.
Skipper Dale Randall led by example with bat and ball as Chirk seconds kept their promotion bid on the boil with a six-wicket win over third-place Coton.
Invited to bat, Coton were limited to 150-7 from 40 overs, Randall with a superb 4-14 off 10 overs.
Randall then made 61 as the hosts reached 151-4 to secure 20 points. Opener Rob Williams added 30 to the total. This is one Randall who doesn’t need Hopkirk to help him out!
