LIVERPOOL AND DISTRICT CRICKET COMPETITION REPORTS – AUGUST 3, 2024

2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION

Formby 2nd XI (22) 146-10 Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (8) 129-10

Colwyn Bay seconds’ match at Formby last Saturday featured a 10-wicket haul – but unfortunately it was against the North Wales side, not for them.

Australian seamer Lachlan Keady took 10-51 off 19 overs as he bowled out a Bay side chasing 147 for victory

Formby seconds won the toss and batted, losing all their wickets for a modest 146.

Tom Clarke took a superb 5-30, Ryan Holtby 2-19 off 10 and Jamie Moorhouse 2-32.

In reply, opener Joshua Brown made 47 for the Bay, but the visitors ended up 129 all out with Keady the star turn.

1ST XI DIVISION ONE

Bootle (20) 121-4 Colwyn Bay (3) 118-10

Bay remain second in Division One, but trail leaders Bootle by 40 points after last weekend’s loss to the Liverpool side.

The visitors were put into bat and bowled out for 118, Luke Russell hitting 36 and skipper George Johansen 31, Sagar Trivedi 4-49 and ex-Prestatyn bowler Kieron New 3-37.

Bootle eased to 121-4 off 20 overs to seal a 20-4 points verdict, Trivedi 49 not out, Jack Parry 3-45 for the Welsh team.

1ST XI DIVISION TWO

Northop Hall (5) 142-10 Ainsdale (25) 223-6 dec

Hall were then dismissed for 142, skipper Ben Slater 65 and Matthew Jones 57, Dilanka Auwardt 5-19 and Andrew Barlow 5-87 for the winners.

Prestatyn (2) 73-10 Alder (20) 77-4

Not a day to savour for bottom side Prestatyn.
