Head attraction – Hats off to Bangor City Stadium!

Monday saw Bangor City Stadium proudly announce the installation of the iconic FAW Bucket Hat, – a symbol of Welsh football pride and heritage.

The giant-sized, colourful hat sculpture, the adopted symbol of Welsh football fans, was moved today from its previous location outside Storiel in Bangor to its new home at the stadium.

Storiel, an acclaimed cultural and heritage centre in Bangor, has been the hat’s temporary residence for the past few months.

The FAW Bucket Hat, a large fibreglass structure, celebrates the success of the Wales football team and has become a beloved emblem for supporters.

The relocation operation was conducted by Tim Tacluso Ardal Ni, a dedicated team from Gwynedd County Council, and involved a crew of eight members. Utilising a crane from Hughes Specialist Transport Ltd, the team carefully transported the hat from the city centre to Bangor City Stadium.

Llion Jones, a member of the Tacluso Ardal Ni team, shared his enthusiasm: “I think this will be really beneficial for our area and remind us of the tremendous success the Wales football team achieved a few years ago.”

Craig Mills, Bangor City Stadium manager, added, “We’re so thrilled to have this here. It’s going to be a fantastic focal point and wonderful for fans from everywhere to come and have their photo taken with it.”

In addition to serving as a cherished landmark, the FAW Bucket Hat will be available for sponsorship, offering businesses and organisations a unique opportunity to support the local community and sports culture.

This installation is part of a series of ongoing improvements at Bangor City Stadium, which is currently undergoing enhancements of over six figures in value.

These upgrades are set to transform the stadium into a premier venue for sports and community events in the region.
