Arthur Vaughan – what a man!

Denbigh Town FC’s longest-serving committee member has decided to step down at the age of 85.

I remember Arthur well from my time on the club’s committee in the 1990’s. Never afraid to voice his opinion, he has always been DTFC through and through.

A club statement said: “Denbigh Town Football Club would like to place on record it’s sincere thanks to the club’s longest-serving committee member, who has taken the decision to step down.

“Arthur Vaughan has informed the club at our recent AGM that he has decided to step down from the role which he has held since the late 1960s.

“During his time at the club Mr Vaughan has overseen decades of progress including the club’s most successful eras in the 1970s and 1990s, as well as significant development of Central Park from a humble pitch to one of North Wales’ best grounds. His work raising funds including a number of events in Denbigh played a significant part in the progress of the club.

“A committed member of the club, Mr Vaughan regularly attended meetings whilst also volunteering on match-days for both the first team and reserves. During Mr Vaughan’s time serving the club, he has overseen every single first team manager from the club’s first appointment of Gordon Gunson in 1968 to our current boss Dewi Llion.

“Denbigh Town Football Club would like to thank Arthur for his incredible work over an impressive length of time, he will always be welcome at Central Park.”
