That’s the situation which faces CPD Y Felinheli when they enter their final game of the season at home to champions Flint Mountain on Wednesday (7 pm kick-off).

A fantastic sixth win in their last seven games at Cae Seilo on Saturday kept Felin’s hopes of The Great Escape very much alive.

With three teams set to be relegated from Tier 3 Ardal North West, either Bethesda Athletic or Felinheli will join Hawarden Rangers and Saltney Town in going down.

Pesda and Felin both have 29 points, but Mark N Hughes’ side have a better goal difference of 16 over their fellow contenders for the drop. Bethesda have now completed their fixtures.

This means Felin must get something against Mountain, who already have the league title in the bag and are chasing a treble.

Felinheli maintained their magical home form on Saturday by sweeping aside sixth-place St Asaph City 3-0.

Ryan Cain set up Gavin Lloyd-Jones for the opening goal on 24 minutes.

Lloyd-Jones then supplied the assist for Iwan Owen to make it 2-0 after 37.

The points were sealed after 62 minutes when Lloyd-Jones added a home third.

Now it’s on to Wednesday and the visit of the champions to Felin, who are doing their late and much-missed manager Euron Davies proud with their end-of-season heroics.

Llay Welfare 2 Bethesda Athletic 1

Runners-up Llay completed a magnificent Tier 3 season with a 21st win in 30 matches at the expense of relegation-threatened Bethesda.

Knowing a win could see them safe in Ardal North West, Pesda suffered a nightmare start when Osian Pugh conceded a third-minute own goal.

Kian Turton added a second for the Welly before Ally Issa gave Athletic hope by halving the deficit.

However, it was Mike Gadie and Steven Halliwell’s side who hung on to cement their hold on second spot.

Llay now await news on their appeal to the FAW over the initial refusal to grant them a Tier 2 licence, without which they cannot be promoted to the Cymru North.

As for Bethesda, they will be hoping title-winners Flint Mountain do them a favour by beating Felinheli on Wednesday.
