Goals galore on Saturday, April 6 – so let’s update our North Wales Hotshots chart

With lots of goals flying around on Saturday, April 6, how about an instant update of the North Wales Hotshots?

Some players who were ‘bubbling under’ the 30-goal mark yesterday reached and passed that milestone on Saturday.

One striker made it to 40 goals in all competitions, while leader Harrison Bellis notched a single for CPD Y Glannau to make it 54 for the campaign.

1 Harrison Bellis (CPD Y Glannau) – 54 goals
(38 league, 16 cups – 24 appearances)

Harrison has scored in each of his last eight matches for Y Glannau and netted in 21 of his 24 appearances this season.

The 22-year-old ace is well on course to beat last season’s total of 62 for The Shores or The Banks.

Has netted a seven-goal haul, plus two fives and a [air of fours during 2023-24..

2 Sam Giles (Acton) 48 goals
(38 league, 10 cups – 25 appearances)

Giles has already beaten last season’s tally of 39 goals and is closing in on the big 50.

Has notched seven hat-tricks this term, including two sixes, a five and a four.

Leading scorer in the Tier 5 North East Wales League Championship with 37 goals.

3 Asa Thomas (Trearddur Bay) – 47 goals
(33 league, 14 cups – 29 appearances)

Asa has registered six club hat-tricks this season and is joint highest marksman in the North Wales Coast West Premier Division on 33 league goals.

Recently reached a phenomenal figure of 700 career goals, making him the highest known goalscorer in North Wales football history.

Asa was North Wales’ leading scorer last season with 75, and this term is part of an unbeaten Trearddur Bay side top of the Premier Division.

4 Harry Massey (Overton Recreational) – 44 goals
(36 league, 8 cups – 25 appearances)

Chalked up his eighth hat-trick of the season on Saturday, April 6, in Overton’s 3-1 victory at Yr Wyddgrug.

Harry is having a magnificent 2023-24 for Overton, finding the net 44 times in all in 25 appearances.

He proved he knew where the goal was last term when knocking in 25 goals.

5 Jamie McDaid (Llanrug United) – 40 goals
(33 league, 7 cups – 24 appearances)

In a remarkable season, this highly-rated operator has scored four goals in a game four times and registered a double-hat-trick.

Is joint top-scorer in the Tier 4 North Wales Coast League West Premier Division with 33 goals and reached the 40-mark in all competitions on Saturday, April 6, in Llanrug’s 2-2 draw at Pentraeth.

6 Meilir Williams (Llanuwchllyn) – 37 goals
(20 league, 17 cups – 30 appearances)

Meilir reached 20 league goals in Ardal North East on Saturday, April 6, with a double in a 4-0 victory over Welshpool Town.

The 27-year-old has also been successful in knockout competitions, scoring nine in the Welsh Cup and five in the FAW Amateur Trophy.

With 37 goals in all this term, Meilir hit five in a 10-2 Cwpan Cymru demolition of Tregaron Turfs and a hat-trick versus Llanrwst in a 6-0 Trophy romp.

Previous clubs include Porthmadog, Conwy Borough and Blaenau Amateurs, as well as Penrhyndeudraeth, where he netted 100 goals in 90 appearances and was Welsh Alliance golden boot winner in 2018-19 with 28.

7 Jamie Williams (FC Plas Madoc) – 32 goals
(27 league, 5 cups – 24 appearances)

This man is on fire, having banged in four, four and three goals in his last three matches.

The 34-year-old’s latest quartet came in Plas Madoc’s 7-2 win over Acton on Saturday, April 6, which keeps the Wrexham side top of the North East Wales Championship on GD.

Has five hat-tricks this season.

7 Kallum Pierce (CPD Gronant) – 32 goals
(26 league, 6 cups – 27 appearances)

Kallum pocketed five goals as Gronant rattled up a 17-0 victory on Saturday, April 6.

That took him up to 32 in all competitions this term for a team he joined at the start of 2023-24 from Aston Park Rangers.

9 Elliott Reeves (Flint Town United) – 31 goals
(30 league, 1 cups – 30 appearances)

What a signing this man has proved to be for the Silkmen this season.

Is now top-scorer in the Cymru North with 30 goals, having formed a prolific partnership with Josh Jones, who has hit 24 in all competitions himself.

A left-footed centre forward with a keen poacher’s instinct for goal, Elliott, 26, joined Flint last summer from Mickleover Sports in Derbyshire. He has also played for Alfreton Town, Margate, Ilkeston Town and Heanor Town.

9 Gerwyn Williams (Dolgellau AA) – 31 goals
(25 league, 6 cups – 26 appearances)

Leading scorer in the Tier 3 Ardal North East League with 25 goals, having notched 31 in all competitions over 26 appearances.

Was right on the money when he netted an injury-time winner for Dolgellau AA against Rhos Aelwyd on March 30

9 Kaine Bentley (Gwalchmai) – 31 goals
(22 league, 9 cups – 24 appearances)

This 20-year-old livewire is having a magnificent first season with Gwalchmai in Tier 4.

Having made his mark for Ynys Mon’s silver medal winning team at the 2023 Island Games in Guernsey, Kaine has gone on to shine for the Maes Meurig men in the North Wales Coast West Premier.

12 Llion Griffiths (Nantlle Vale Reserves) – 30 goals
(27 league, 3 cups – 26 appearances)

A star performer in a Nantlle Vale Reserves side running away with the FAW Reserve League North Tier 3 title, Llion reached 30 goals after scoring in a 2-1 win at St Asaph Reserves on Saturday, April 6.

This 19-year-old, who has featured in the first team, is a fantastic prospect.
