Bangor boosted their unbeaten run to three league games as they repeated a 1-0 win they achieved away to Sunday’s opponents Airbus at the end of November.
The only goal came on 13 minutes.
Bangor hit Airbus with a counter attack, starting from halfway where Mia Roberts played a lovely ball through the defensive line for Ella Jones to run onto. Jones smartly slotted the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs to make it 1-0 for the home side.
The rest of the contest was close-fought, as it had been in the previous meeting between these two well-matched sides.
Winning manager Aron Griffith said: “Delighted with that win today, I think Airbus are one of our main competitors this season and doing the double over them is a big step for us.
“Girls played well today, gave everything and didn’t stop until the final whistle. We had a friendly last weekend and the performance from that game certainly carried on into today’s. Looking forward to the rest of this season to see what we can make of it.”
Next up for Bangor is a league visit to CPDM Y Feliheli, who they held 0-0 at Nantporth in a Genero Adran Trophy test in October.
However, Felin have also beaten Bangor twice this season, 2-0 away in the NWCFA Challenge Cup and 6-1 at Nantporth in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, two weeks before the aforementioned 0-0 draw.
Griffith added: “Tough match next Sunday as we take on Felinheli. From the matches we played against them last year we’ll certainly have to be on our A game, but we’re looking forward to it.”
NFA slipped into the bottom two after a one-goal defeat in Powys.
The only net-finder at Mount Field came in the 66th minute when Becky Jones scored the winner.
Llanfair’s victory leapfrogged them above NFA into sixth place. It was also their first win of the campaign after three draws and two defeats.
